Directorate of Distance & Continuing
Education is a vibrant wing of
the Utkal University. I am happy
to learn about it’s intiative in
Industry-Academia Collaboration, Co-ordinating
placement drive of General Graduates for
Infosys and TCS, Executive training
programme of India Post and
introduction of online assistance
etc. Education for All is it’s
motto and it helps the
disadvantaged to reach the portals
of higher education. This year
Utkal University has also
established the Social Exclusion and
Inclusive Policy Study (SEIPS) at
DDCE with funding from the UGC. I
am confident that DDCE would take
it’s initiative to greater heights
in coming years. The University
administration would continue to be
supportive for it’s all round
development.
In this age of emerging “ Knowledge
Economy” Open Distance Learning is
the future for educating large
number of students in the most
cost effective manner. With
dwindling resources and state
support for education Distance
learning needs to be a further
strengthened with wider range of
courses, larger number of learner
and quality assurance. We must
stand up to these challenges. I
convey my best wishes to the
students, teachers, counsellors and
other stake-holders of DDCE to do
their best.
